Who We Are
Formerly known as Cafe 21, a beloved San Diego staple for nearly 20 years, this neighborhood spot built its name on creative dishes and a crowd-favorite brunch menu.
In 2025, the restaurant was passed down to family of the original owners and reimagined as The Hangout. The heart of the place remains the same—with that famous brunch menu (plus a few tasty new twists), a killer happy hour, and an even better dinner service.
And yes, the same incredible team—both front and back of house—that’s been here for over a decade is still serving it up. We believe in community, consistency, and creating a space where everyone instantly becomes a regular.
